We aren't that lucky.

Probably not going to happen, but I don't blame you for wishing it.

I hate her and her special snowflake attitude.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-14 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
What'd she do?

(Anonymous) 2014-11-14 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
blatantly admit to not only doing some weird sexual stuff around and involving her sister and bragging about it like its some cute quirky thing, but also describing how she would intentionally upset her sister with bad news just to make her sister cling to her. That stuck out to me just as much as the whole "sexual" thing.

Creepy as hell

The sexual stuff was weird, but that wasn't the worst part of it. Kids do weird, inappropriate stuff all the time. What really weirded me out was that she was apparently still doing freaky stuff with her little sister well into her teens and then fucking bragged about it in a memoir.

Honestly, you can excuse the sexual stuff as a stupid kid being a stupid kid. But you don't brag about being a stupid kid and you don't use your sister to manufacture shock and awe as an adult.

She tried a C&D on a site that quoted her memoirs containing the perverted material.

What gets me is all of the people who were so in love with her when her stupid show first came out are now saying they never really understood the hype.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-14 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
But did they really? For all the hype I heard on blogs and stuff, I have never met someone irl who has ever seen the show.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-14 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
now that you mention it, I don't think I've met anyone irl who's a fan of the show either. the closest I've seen is my mother who said "it's kind of funny I guess"

If only we were so lucky.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-14 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the whole thing has been off putting. I definitely wouldn't go as far to say that she's a child molester or a rapist or anything like some people have but the extent that she took it to is creepy imo. It would be nice if we knew whether or not her sister gave her permission to share those stories though. I would be hurt if a family member broadcast something like that without my permission

(Anonymous) 2014-11-14 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
You do realize that what she's written could constitute confession to sexual assault, which in some jurisdictions has no statute of limitations, right?

And sexual assault includes molestation and/or rape.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-14 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
She was 7 when she did this. Stow the pitchforks and slow the heavy breathing.

What about her not-for-profit status?

(Anonymous) 2014-11-14 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
I've seen this post with cited links that says FemFreq is not non-profit http://naughtynerdess.tumblr.com/post/79025483221/internet-detectives

I used to be a fan of Anita's until I saw that...

Anyone have any info to dispute that? Is it being misrepresented somehow?

oops misfire.

When I was a little girl, me and my sister french kissed each other once and I still cringe over it and think "why the fuck did I do that?" The fact that Lena seems almost proud of what she did to her sister and trying to justify it is just really ... off. Really fucking weird. If she had a more normal reaction like "look at this strange thing i did as a kid, how embarrassing, eugh," I'd be least creeped out by her. But right now, just looking at her makes my skin crawl cause she acts like she didn't do anything wrong at all.

Right. There are things that are normal-ish parts of child development, and that *can* include experiments with siblings, but her attitude towards it feels off to me, as does the age gap-- a couple of years is one thing, but at that age, more than that is a significant thing, and while some of the things she describes aren't necessarily sexual at all, the way she got the affection that she wanted feels so wrong to me.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-14 08:10 am (UTC)(link)
I feel horrible for her. She was seven years old and it was very clearly just normal childhood curiosity and not molestation. Her sister thinks the accusations are hilarious and it's sickening how people are insisting that Grace was molested when she adamantly says that she was not. Stop appropriating other people's experiences.

People go on the attack as soon as they hear Lena's name and it's been that way from the beginning. She produces smart, HONEST televsion, and people don't want to hear it, especially from a woman who doesn't embody the usual bullshit Hollywood standards of beauty.

Congrats to you all, though, for supporting a right wing dipshits attempts to discredit her. Well done for playing right into his hands.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-14 01:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I would feel horrible for her if one of her cousins or an old lover or someone had decided to share this story without her consent. As it is, she's the one that decided to make this story public. Yeah, the right wing dipshit ran with it, but honestly, now? She's not an innocent victim here so much as her attention-seeking garnered her the wrong kind of attention. Because, gee whiz, who could have thought that someone could take a story about feeling up your little sister the wrong way?

That said, they were both small children at the time. Little kids are weird about bodies and boundaries sometimes, and the accusations of OMG!Child molestation! are both legally untrue and a gross exaggeration of what actually happened. Part of it comes from how controversial Lena is, but part of it is just more of the same old bullshit where the Tumblr kids have decided that that 4-year-old who showed them his weewee in preschool totally raped them.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-14 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
> Because, gee whiz, who could have thought that someone could take a story about feeling up your little sister the wrong way?

Look at the various people in this thread, and how many have had similar experiences, all of them feeling obligated to be ashamed. (They shouldn't. They were little kids.) So it seems like this kind of stuff is pretty normal behaviour. But forbidding people to talk about it (this sort of...ugh... victim blaming *cough* is practically forbidding it, socially.) will create a sort of taboo around these activities, that result in cultural neuroses.
(When I was a kid, nobody gave a shit if there was one pedo among the people at the pool secretly getting off to us butt-naked kids. But now they're all so fucking paranoid that someone could see their kiddies' privates, they'd preerably put them in burkinis. That's the sort of neurosis I mean.)

It's not just the stuff she did at seven. It's the stuff she did at seventeen and the fact that in her own words she did everything a child molestor would do to get kisses and hugs from her little sister, who was significantly younger than her. This wasn't two seventeen year old siblings, it was a seventeen year old and an eleven year old.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-14 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
This so hard. She was proud of manipulating her sister with candy andother things.
