Dude even the goddamn Pope says evolution is real.

Which, FTR, has been true for three Popes, and it's been seven since the first one to officially say that evolution was not incompatible with Catholic doctrine.

(Pius XII said that evolution is compatible with God in '56 - almost 60 years ago! - though he didn't believe the evidence was clear enough to say it was true. Then nobody spoke on it one way or the other for 40 years, until John Paul II reiterated the first part, and then added that the evidence was clear that it was true, in '96. The truth can't contradict the truth, and God doesn't lie, therefor doctrine must acknowledge science.)

Yeah, I'm Catholic! I know that. It's one of the things that kept me in.

Fair enough. I've just seen too many people talking like Francis is the first to say it*, and felt that it needed to be stated.

* Including one who came into the middle of a discussion about how he wasn't...

Yes, that was weird. Suddenly it was 'big news', and I'm like, okay, that's nothing new, we were taught evolution all the way through Catholic school, and so were my parents and grandparents. Not sure why it got the big media spin.
