I liked NaruHina, but SasuSaku and other random pairings (like Chouji/Karui) were huge asspulls straight out of crack fic.

I have less of an issue with the random asspulls with people who've never spent much time together, because it's been ten years, all sorts of stuff has presumably happened, and maybe if they did spend time together they'd get along well. It's an... interesting... writing decision to repurpose minor characters as life partners for more major characters, but from an in-universe perspective it's not unreasonable.

On the other hand, Sasuke/Sakura made considerably more sense from a writing perspective, but from an in-universe perspective Sakura needs a therapist.

You must be trolling. Sasusaku had more devlopment than Naruhina. Did you read part one at all? Sakura never stopped loving Sasuke. All she ever does is cry and think about Sasuke-kun. Then you have Sasuke had moments where it looked like he cared about her. And surprise, they get married and have a kid. It was so damn obvious.

I don't remember Sasuke caring about her all that much or reciprocating her feelings at all though. They barely had any interaction too, and what little they did have involved Sasuke being a bag of dicks to her and her inexplicably still loving a guy she barely knows. Pretty much all the ships in Naruto are hamfisted and forced as fuck.

What? That absolutely never happened. Even when he traps her in the genjutsu before his final battle with Naruto, it's to protect Sakura from intervening.

And there was a BIG part in Shippuden where she barely talked or gushed about Sasuke to the point many people thought she had some GREAT development and moved the fuck on.

So yeah, SasuSaku is a goddamn asspull and poor Sakura needs to go into therapy.

1. They were trying to kill each other.

2. The first time Sasuke called her annoying was when Sakura was saying that Naruto was annoying and didn't know how to act because he didn't have parents. The second and third were a callback to that first time, a moment that meant a lot to Sakura because Sasuke expressed his true feelings to her.

3. Sasuke was never an all out dick to her.

4. Whether you or fandom like it or not, Sasuke had a big impact on her. Including helping to inspire her to become the kickass character she is in Part 2. She never "moved the fuck on" from loving Sasuke.

He still intended to kill her, not once, but twice. First time was before she tried to kill him.

When did Sasuke ever disrespect Sakura or treat her badly? The harshest he ever was to her was when he told her off for insulting Naruto for being an orphan.

Sasuke became very attached to both Naruto and Sakura when they were in Team 7. That was the whole reason he left Konoha. If he was so annoyed, why did he thank Sakura for trying to stop him? Why didn't he just kill her right there and then?

Sasuke tries to kill Sakura the first time when she comes at him with two fists full of chakra. I don't think she wanted to kill him at the time, but she was coming at him with lethal force.

I'm not saying that Sasuke is a saint or that he was always in love with Sakura, but I'm just not seeing how he's the complete hateful ass you're portraying him as.

NaruSaku shippers are giving me a bad case of secondhand embarrassment right now. I've been on that side before, where my ship didn't sail, and it does suck. But it doesn't mean that Kishimoto-sensei was told by Shounen Jump to pair up NaruHina and SasuSaku. What preteen/teenage boy really cares about shipping, anyway?

Enjoy your NaruSaku fanworks and move on from the delusional fantasies. Please.

If SJ did tell the mangaka to do so, I think it's only plausible if we get a spin-off with the children.

Otherwise, I don't see it. What can really happen? The shipping side of fandom is small to begin with, and the series is done with. What are they going to do, refuse to buy the very last volume? Especially when these are the types of people who, presumably, have the whole set already?

I think what is most plausible is the author might think extremely long term crushes are basically code for soul mates.

I see a lot of people chalking the SasuSaku hate up to NaruSaku shippers, but to be honest, I think a lot of people just don't like the pairing. I'm a NaruHina shipper (it's been a good week for me =D) but I don't like SasuSaku. Unlike Otakugal I don't think Sasuke's earlier behavior is proof that they could never be together, but I don't really see any reason why they should have ended up together. They don't seem that compatible, and I would rather have seen Sakura's infatuation grow into simply the mutual love and respect of a friend with him.

I actually like NaruSaku a lot less than SasuSaku but that doesn't mean I like SasuSaku.
