The first weren't all that good. No reason why the last would be worth watching.

Agreed. I was such a LOTR fangirl, but the first two Hobbit movies were just... so bad. I still enjoy the world and the atmosphere of the movies, but I really wish I were as excited for the last Hobbit movie was I was for the last LOTR movie. Ah, nostalgia.

Agreed. I'm still mostly annoyed they split the book into three movies of unnecessary length, so I kind of carried that bitterness into the first two when I caught them on TV. Can't see how the third will be any better.

Me too.

I want to be psyched like I was when Return of the King came out but this cast of The Hobbit isn't the same. They don't have the same chemistry. I love Armitage but he is no Mortensen.

Me too. I want to see it just to see the conclusion of the story on film, but I enjoyed the LotR films more.

IA. The second one was a bit of a hot mess.

Ugh, same.

My mum's a huge LOTR fangirl, so she's hyped for The Hobbit movies.

Myself... I honestly just feel like they were a letdown, on all fronts. We got the extended edition the other day, and we were watching the scenes with Thrain, and kept thinking: "WHY DID YOU CUT THAT, WRITERS?"

So much stuff that could have been included was cut, while stuff that was included really should have been cut. (Like that goddamn scene with the goblin caves that dragged onnnn for eternity.) They definitely overused the CGI, so things felt less... real, I guess, than they did in LOTR. It was like watching a videogame, where everything was oversaturated and fake.

Pacing was all weird. They spent 5 seconds "getting lost" in Mirkwood. Wayyy too many references to LOTR, which is kind of insulting because it reminds the audience what they COULD be watching instead.
And that important climactic scene with the dragon I felt was all wrong.

Plus, I don't know if I'm the only one, but Martin Freeman's acting really bugs me. It just feels like he plays Martin Freeman over and over again.

The only thing I really enjoyed was the guy who played Thorin, who was an A+ casting decision.

Thorin is played by Richard Armitage and he is the definition of sexy.

It is a known fact that Martin Freeman has never played anyone but Martin Freeman.

Well, I was going to say it's more the fact that he OWNS the role and he's a really good actor...

But the sexy definitely helps, lbr.

The second one was a huge disappointment for me, I just can't muster up any excitement for the third.

I like the fleshing out the dwarves got but still hate so much of Peter Jackson's choices. And JFC he didn't learn anything about bad forced drama from LotR because he's still trying it here. This is definitely a case where I prefer what the fandom can do over the canon I'm getting.
