Re: Things you want to get hyped for but can't

Ugh, same.

My mum's a huge LOTR fangirl, so she's hyped for The Hobbit movies.

Myself... I honestly just feel like they were a letdown, on all fronts. We got the extended edition the other day, and we were watching the scenes with Thrain, and kept thinking: "WHY DID YOU CUT THAT, WRITERS?"

So much stuff that could have been included was cut, while stuff that was included really should have been cut. (Like that goddamn scene with the goblin caves that dragged onnnn for eternity.) They definitely overused the CGI, so things felt less... real, I guess, than they did in LOTR. It was like watching a videogame, where everything was oversaturated and fake.

Pacing was all weird. They spent 5 seconds "getting lost" in Mirkwood. Wayyy too many references to LOTR, which is kind of insulting because it reminds the audience what they COULD be watching instead.
And that important climactic scene with the dragon I felt was all wrong.

Plus, I don't know if I'm the only one, but Martin Freeman's acting really bugs me. It just feels like he plays Martin Freeman over and over again.

The only thing I really enjoyed was the guy who played Thorin, who was an A+ casting decision.

Thorin is played by Richard Armitage and he is the definition of sexy.

It is a known fact that Martin Freeman has never played anyone but Martin Freeman.

Well, I was going to say it's more the fact that he OWNS the role and he's a really good actor...

But the sexy definitely helps, lbr.
