(Anonymous) 2014-11-16 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)As for the reason they're saying official translations are bad, if it's like in France (where it doesn't happen too often with manga but quite a lot with anime), it could be either because of ignorance or hypocrisy : they don't want to buy the stuff because it's expensive so they give excuses.
Some fansubbers also have a grudge with editors because of the way the market evolved (internationnaly with sites like Crunchyroll, in France we also have other similar platforms of simulcast and some really recent anime can also be seen on cable tv) and they try to paint the professionals as greedy bad guys who wants to make money out of anime~
It can be pretty ridiculous and a lot of the people following them don't realize that those working on the anime they love need money to work and that watching the official translators' version will give them some money.
Recently, I even saw a ridiculous petition with something like 300 signatures asking french editors to stop licensing new series... Yeah, some anime fans don't want their favorite series to be available in their country. The absurdity is incredible.
