(Anonymous) 2014-11-16 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)1 It's free.
2 Many stuff never gets licensed.
3 Official translation can take months or even years.
4 Many official translation love to localize stuff and in the worse cases even the names of the character and stuff relevant to the plot are changed.
5 Some official translations are awful (saezuru tori wa habatakanai official release is an example of how bad they can bee)
6 Fan translation have some chance of getting corrected, specially if the errors are relevant to the plot. Official translation rarely get their mistakes fixed, even if their release is digital or if the manga gets a second print.
OP
(Anonymous) 2014-11-19 05:09 am (UTC)(link)5. that title was done by a DMP imprint, and DMP is the woooooorst manga company ever. They crowdsource translations and pay all their translators worse than minimum wage, they're a total scam. So yeah, please do not give them money for anything. But most companies are good!
