She isn't the only thing I'll miss, but she's at the top followed closely by Jaina (who is pretty much the only good thing about the NJO and post era). Thrawn would be there too.

Really, though, Corran is considered more of a sue, and I'll really miss him too.

I'm excited for the new movies, but I'd love it if the Zahn and Stackpoole books would be canon. The others can go away.

The X wing books/comics should also stay canon. Wedge Antilles is one of my top fictional heroes and I may or may not have named several consecutive goldfish after him in my younger days

That is awesome. I love Wedge too. And I'm quite fond of Tycho. And Corran. And all of them, really. I was less in love with the Allston ones, but they were still good.

I was in love with all of them. Well, maybe not Corran so much, but I was also in love with Mirax so I guess Corran grew on me. I liked him better in I, Jedi since we got to be inside of his head.

But Tycho and Hobbie were always my faves.

I think Tycho was my favorite with Wedge a close second. I'm a sucker for a tragic backstory and for heroes who are thought to be working for the bad guys but actually aren't. But yes, all of them.

I think with Corran, he might have been a little suish except that Stackpole was smart and had him still be fairly green and have others have clearly more skill. And also, he was wrong about Tycho. So it helped me like him more.

Mirax rocked, though. As did Iella. I love Stackpole's women. And he was the first Star Wars author to have a female villain, and Isard is still miles better than say Daala for example. She's my second favorite EU villain after Thrawn.

Eee, I feel like I should bring back some of my old Star Wars icons now. :)

It was nice to see Corran get his comeuppance from time to time, as needed. I mean, seriously, since he was Stackpole's character, he could have been brought in to show how much better he was than the old guard (Wedge, Tycho, et al). Which is what would happen in a Sueish situation. But while he was definitely really good at what he does, he wasn't the best at everything.

And now I want to go re-read the books.

Also: Yes, the ladies were great. I don't think I have complaints about a single one of them. (I never really got into Daala, but I didn't read much with her in it, actually.)

I love love love Iella in Starfighters of Adumar. That entire book pretty much holds up as the best from that period. It didn't take itself too seriously, something many of the others did to their detriment.

I do love Mara and Jaina. I think the Dark Nest Trilogy was the last of the books I read, but Zahn and Stackpole's books will always be my favorite by far. I really wish I could read more of the post-NJO for Jaina but the storyline went way off course for my liking.

The X-Wing books were the best, I think Starfighters of Adumar was my favorite.

The NJO as a whole was awful, but I did like Jaina. She was like the only good thing about it. I loved her characterization in those books. And then in the post-NJO stuff, she takes a back seat to Jacen even though they were twins and she was the Sword of the Jedi and if anything I wanted her to be more important.

I think of the NJO, Allston, Stackpole and the Force Heretic trilogy of NJO are the books I actually enjoy rereading. Dark Journey was okay.

The NJO was my first foray into the EU and I felt someone could have done a better job. Then I read Zahn and realized someone knew how to capture the perfect blend of what Star Wars is.

-Jaina
-Mara
-Tales of the Jedi (though I guess that's so far in the past it wouldn't really be affected)

Right there with you. Totally loved Mara and thought her character was well done. Thrawn and Pellaeon were great antagonists along with Ysanne Isard. The rest, not so much. I'm going to miss the Noghri and pretty much everything with Wedge and Tycho and Winter.

Stackpole and Zahn are my favorite authors in the EU but with the rest of the mess that exists out there I can understand why Disney would choose to scrap the rest of the EU. I mean seriously so much mess.
