Based on extensive observation, it is my personal belief that most people who make a big fuss about how " you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince(ss)" are just trying to excuse away the fact that they are utterly devoid of common sense and personal discernment when it comes to choosing romantic partners.

tbh, how low some people's standards are really worry me

I agree.

For some people it's like: "Well, they're not outright abusive, so hey, why not!"

Reach for the stars, kids.

I think some people mostly just want to have sex with people they find attractive

and it's hard for me to object to that

Yeah, I can see that. My question to them would be, why the hell do you end up with so many damn frogs? If your judgement is that poor when it comes to character, the odds of spontaneously finding a prince one day is pretty slim.

I hate the whole "kissing frogs" thing because that's not how the story goes. She threw the frog at the wall because it wanted to get a kiss and she didn't want to and only then did he turn back into a prince.

That may be true for some people, but for a lot of people, the frogs aren't frogs because of any significant personal defect. They just aren't compatible as a long-term romantic prospect, often for reasons that aren't obvious until after a few (or even one) dates. Dealbreakers can be pretty private, or pretty minor, and most people don't wear those on their sleeve.

I'm talking about people who date people who are FLAGRANTLY undesirable partners. We're talking people with, for example, serious drug or alcohol problems, people who cheat or make frequent attempts to cheat, people who send dirty texts to their SO's siblings, people who get in fights all the time because of their pointlessly over-aggressive behavior, people who think it's okay to give their SO the occasional smack upside the head when they're in a mood. Not people who are otherwise lovely folks but just aren't long-term compatible.
