Re: 32

[identity profile] kyriesanctus.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
I... rest my case.

You're like a 7 year old.

Re: 32

(Anonymous) 2007-12-24 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
You are taking this all waaaay too seriously.

'The right way to react, let me show you it. :)' summarises your how wall of text.

'3) Grow some fucking RESPECT for your FELLOW ARTIST'
I don't believe the other person here is an artist, so this doesn't apply.

Re: 32

[identity profile] kyriesanctus.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
You mean the Penguin person whose username I am far too lazy to look up? I believe they said they were an artist, but I'm not entirely sure. (But I'm also referring to Keysha-chan, as well as myself and, well, anyone else who draws.)

xD Thanks for the summary... I do have a tendancy to.. prattle on and put people to bed. (I should get paid for it I'm so good..!)

Re: 32

(Anonymous) 2007-12-24 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
You seem to be confused as to the definition of artist. Allow me to educate you: The definition is 'a person whose work exhibits exceptional skill'. Yourself and Keysha do not exhibit any exceptional skill in your work, thus, you are not artists. Stop sullying my native language.

Re: 32

[identity profile] kyriesanctus.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
Allow ME to introduce you to the dictionary.

art·ist /ˈɑrtɪst/ [ahr-tist] –noun
1. a person who produces works in any of the arts that are primarily subject to aesthetic criteria.
2. a person who practices one of the fine arts, esp. a painter or sculptor.
3. a person whose trade or profession requires a knowledge of design, drawing, painting, etc.: a commercial artist.
4. a person who works in one of the performing arts, as an actor, musician, or singer; a public performer: a mime artist; an artist of the dance.
5. a person whose work exhibits exceptional skill.
6. a person who is expert at trickery or deceit: He's an artist with cards.
7. Obsolete. an artisan.

Don't pick out one piece of a definition of a word. If you're gonna use it, you gotta use the whole thing.

Stop sullying my native language.

Re: 32

[identity profile] kyriesanctus.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't think you were. I was being facetious.

Re: 32

(Anonymous) 2007-12-24 07:27 am (UTC)(link)
facetious isn't a very funny word you know :(

Re: 32

[identity profile] kyriesanctus.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
Not really funny, but, y'know, the right word for the situation.

Re: 32

(Anonymous) 2007-12-24 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, but you are an artist by this definition! Congratulations!

Re: 32

[identity profile] kyriesanctus.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, I like how you're trying to be an asshole and hurt my feelings.

It's kinda cute. :)

Re: 32

(Anonymous) 2007-12-24 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
Your painful attempts at drawing are cute too, sugar plum. ;)

i think you two should hook up it'd be extra cute :)

Re: 32

(Anonymous) 2007-12-24 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
Shall I go through these and tell you how you're not an artist by Webster's definition either?

Re: 32

[identity profile] kyriesanctus.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
One who professes and practices an imaginative art.

That applies to pretty much anyone, including my neighbor's six year old who draws stick figures with fingers as long as their torsos.

Re: 32

(Anonymous) 2007-12-24 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, that's a right comparison. You draw as well as an infant. I can agree to that.

Re: 32

(Anonymous) 2007-12-24 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
And you still fit into none of those definitions. Face it, kiddy, you're not an artist.

'a person who produces works in any of the arts that are primarily subject to aesthetic criteria. '
They lack aesthetic appeal. Doesn't apply.

'2. a person who practices one of the fine arts, esp. a painter or sculptor.'
Anime garbage isn't a fine art. Doesn't apply.

'3. a person whose trade or profession requires a knowledge of design, drawing, painting, etc.: a commercial artist.'
I doubt any of you work in an artistic field. Doesn't apply.

'4. a person who works in one of the performing arts, as an actor, musician, or singer; a public performer: a mime artist; an artist of the dance.'
Preforming arts isn't our topic of discussion. Doesn't apply.

'5. a person whose work exhibits exceptional skill.'
See previous post. Still doesn't apply.

'6. a person who is expert at trickery or deceit: He's an artist with cards.'
Trickery isn't being discussed. Doesn't apply.

'7. Obsolete. an artisan.'
Obsolete. doesn't apply.

Read before you copy and paste.

Re: 32

[identity profile] kyriesanctus.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
Aesthetics is a matter of opinion, it's not subjective.

Re: 32

(Anonymous) 2007-12-24 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
So you're tiny body, huge head and eyes garbage is beautiful on a wide scale? You're only an artist to people that think deformed human figures are 'beautiful'.
Also, because you copied my statement about sullying English, allow me to point out that sentences aren't separated by commas alone. You'd need a word such as 'and' to make your statement grammatically correct. What you actually meant to put there was a semicolon.
Yes, now stop sullying the English language. If it's your native language, write in it properly.

Re: 32

[identity profile] kyriesanctus.livejournal.com 2007-12-24 07:34 am (UTC)(link)
Oh hey, Grammar Police, just wanna let you know, it's 'your,' not 'you're.'

For the record, if you want to know if the animu is 'beautiful' on a wide scale.. Considering where we are--oh look, it's Fandom!Secrets, the place where 80% of everyone is into guess what? Anime--I'd have to say yes, on this scale, at least, it is 'beautiful.'

Just, for future reference though.. Not everything on the internet is what someone has made. I've done realism too. I admit I have a lot of work to do in all areas of art, but, I'm not above saying I need practice, and life drawing lessons, and critique, and time to grow.

Re: 32

(Anonymous) 2007-12-24 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
Anime by professions is different from anime done my kids with Photoshop. I asked if YOURS was beautiful. Not if all anime was.

You don't seem to know how to use reference when drawing. That's as much effort as I put into my comments. If you've done realism, why is there no evidence of knowledge of real-world proportions or physics in your drawings? I have no question that your other works are as poorly done as your anime ones.
