Not 3 OP, but still... I don't think that's entirely fair. It's not just finding a girlfriend, it's finding a girlfriend who likes the same thing he (assuming he XD; ) does, is in fandom, etc.

My girlfriend is not in fandom and doesn't understand it >_> so maybe looking outside of fandom wouldn't be the worst decision? Eh, I dunno~

Why does he need to find a girlfriend, first of all? Sounds to me like he's hunting for a girl and getting frustrated when *GASP* he finds out that whoever he may have his eye set on is unavailable in some way.

The entitlement level displayed in the secret really rubbed me the wrong way. Basically, he finds a cute, fun girl that has similar interests to him, and the natural progression of thoughts for him is that he may eventually develop feelings for her, and not... you know, friendship? And his plea at the end (the indignant "is there something wrong with...") just smacks of Nice Guy syndrome (http://divalion.livejournal.com/163615.html).

90% of the active fandom population is undateable anyway. I don't see why anyone would want to. We're fucking creepy and socially retarded, you know. Speaking generally.

I am constantly sexually harrassed by guys at conventions who want "fandom girlfriends" (even when I'm crossplaying, uhhh what), so I am just incredibly bitter and unsympathetic to the dating plight of fanboys. I admit my unfair bias.

...but yeah, I have never dated anyone from fandom, and I don't think I'd want to. Luckily my girlfriend sees my hobbies as endearingly quirky instead of... completely and utterly lame.

Like i said in my own response to this secret, my girlfriend's closest brush to fandom was writing sailor moon fanfic when she was 14 >_> I can understand wanting to share interests with the person you're dating, but... eh.
