I just don't understand the appeal of RP on any level. It's just bizarre to me. But to each their own I suppose.

I didn't understand it either, until I dipped my toes into it. Now I totally get it.

It's exactly the same as writing fanfic, just with multiple people involved.

I like it because it's spontaneous and because the people you're playing with can take plots in directions you didn't expect or would never have thought of on your own. You have to think on your feet, and in that sense I feel it gives me a much better understanding of how the character thinks than just writing fic does.

it's got the fun of writing and the fun of reading and the fun of not really knowing what will happen next since you're playing with another person
