And fuck you up the fucking ass for thinking that you deserve attention and validation just for putting pen to paper and that the people you want attention and validation from aren't going to have some kind of expectations of you.

It seems like you're kind of assuming, here, that the people who think "writers don't owe you anything" are automatically the same people who think "readers owe writers something". What about people who don't think anybody owes anybody anything, and regard fanworks as completely unearned, undeserved, awesome efforts we share with each other because it's fun and exciting to do that? Instead of turning the whole thing into a daisy chain of resentment and entitlement?
