lena's a crappy person but what she did to her sibling wasn't sexual abuse.

she was a 7 yo girl doing what a curious 7 yo girl would do. and the masturbation thing might gross you out but they shared a bed and it's not like her sister was involved. sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

lena chronically over shares and really shouldn't talk about shit without her sister's consent but she's not a child abuser or whatever tumblr is trying to label her.

otherwise the wording of this secret just sounds like a troll.

She didn't talk shit without her sister's consent. The sticky problem with Lena's confession is that the victim doesn't care.

Seven year olds doing weird, inappropriate things to their little sisters is not sexual abuse. 17 year olds doing weird, inappropriate things to their little sisters might be.

30-somethings bragging about being weird and inappropriate and putting creepy shit involving their sister in a Goddamn book for the whole world to read without the sister's consent is gross.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-22 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
gross, perhaps, but still not child sexual abuse

which is absolutely the charge that's being leveled here

I say again: it wasn't without Grace's consent. Grace knew about the book's content and was involved in its promotion.

I didn't know that. Thank you for sharing. I mean, it's still creepy as hell, but I honestly thought her sister didn't know.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-22 08:22 am (UTC)(link)
how is it creepy? if it's really not abnormal for a curious 7 year old to check out her sister's vagina, then maybe we should all just calm down and maybe see her book as what it is: opening up ones life for all the world to see, including all the parts hollywood tends to gloss over (like what realistic female sexuality is). It's self-revelation, and it'S supposed to lead you into the parts of everyones life that they normally wouldn't share, but that you can often recognize as part of yourself. No wondr that in the first discussion on the topic here half of the thread went "oh, I did strange stuff with a sibling, too".
You're supposed to free yourself from the taboo of the topic, not go around anouncing that "this is gross". That's just reaffirming yourself within a society whose sexism in no small part stems from our inability to seriously talk aout sexual matters.

there wasn't anything about a 17-year-old. That was a "typo" on the part of the original article. She was 7.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-22 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
And her sister was 1.

Kids don't explore each other's genitals normally. Their own, sure. But another kid's? Uuuuuh.

It's something. And it's gross and not something that should be said as okay.

Kids have been playing doctor for forever. It's not a reason to freak out, it's an opportunity to talk about boundaries and respecting other people's personal space and bodies.

That said, talking about it when you're in your thirties is really weird. And I don't believe the claim that 'seventeen' was a typo.

Uuuhh my friend pretty much did the same thing with her younger sister when we were all babbies. Hate to break it to you, but young kids/siblings that are really close tend to be curious about bodies and unaware of boundary issues. It's not really as objectionable as you make it out to be because kids are naturally ignorant and have no ulterior motives behind it beyond curiosity.

Yes they do, anon. They absolutely do.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-22 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
My brother and I certainly didn't, but a couple of friends (of both sexes) and I certainly did. (There was no touching, just some "So that's what it looks like/looks like from this angle!") It didn't feel sexual, gross, or weird at the time, doesn't feel sexual, gross, or weird now.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-22 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
The cunt outed her sister because she said her sister is an extension of herself, and she doesn't like 'keeping secrets'. Stop defending this bitch, it's disgusting.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-22 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
haha, no bites

(Anonymous) 2014-11-22 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
It's not meant to get a 'bite'. Her sister's sexuality shouldn't have been anyone's business but her own. It's disgusting how she robbed her own sister of her privacy for her attention. Especially since, wow, it's not like the US is super friendly to gay people. That might affect her life in ways she didn't want them. But hey! Her sexually abusive sister wanted some ass pats!

Stopped reading after disgusting vile gendered insult, Bye!!!

(Anonymous) 2014-11-22 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
you're bollocks.

Apparently the sisteer doesn't care that it happened, but here's the thing, it doesn't actually change the nature of the acts.

Hypothetically if the sister had come out after this was publicized and said "I'm not happy about this. I consider this sexual abuse" Do you believe you'd have the right to be so dismissive? Would you really say to her, or in a forum where she could hear it (like the internet) that she would be wrong to feel this way? Would you really say to her "It was a 7 yo girl doing what a curious 7 yo girl would do"?

Would that make you scum? I think it would.

Now what about people who're in simular situations? People who went through the similar of stuff and does consider it to be rape (I know one such person) How do you think they'd feel seeing this?

Yes, her sister not caring is a good thing and it means no damage was done this time, but that does not change the nature of the acts performed.
