It's not that it's better, it's that no one bothers to keep playing the real crap after all this time so you only hear the better stuff. It's the same with oldies and classic rock. It's also similar to how people insist media from another country is so much better than the media from their own, but they're really just seeing the stuff that was deemed good enough to be worth importing/torrenting/recommending and none of the dreck.

Hah, I don't know about classic rock, there's like three classic rock stations in my city alone and they all play the worst dadrock on the planet. I never want to hear AC/DC or The Rolling Stones again, and while I have respect for Don Henley as a person that doesn't make the Eagles listenable.
