(Anonymous) 2014-11-25 12:32 am (UTC)(link)More humour and lightness. Authors don't need to take themselves so seriously all the time. (I'm side-eyeing a lot of the grim 'n gritty GoT expies right now.)
I'd also like to read stuff that feels more... real. Like I'm reading about real people. Small snapshots of people's stories, almost slice-of-life look into the fantasy world. (Again, requires good worldbuilding.) I'm almost thinking of something similar to Neuromancer by William Gibson. It had a world you could sink into. Also similar to China Mieville.
Plots OTHER than "Hero has to save the world". Like a heist plot, or a horror plot, or a psychological thriller plot, hell even a romance (maybe star-crossed lovers? idk), but set in the fantasy setting and using the context of that world to shape it.
