Or maybe that it was just a one-off nutty tumblerite and they're taking that one comment very personally?

I have honestly never, ever had a comment about which characters I choose to write fanfic about.

I haven't either.

If you're writing fanfic then the characters' races are already chosen (unless the author left it vague or didn't mention it at all). And if not...who goes through someone's fics and tallies up the white and non-white characters they write about? Honestly, who has the time for that? Has anyone here ever heard of that happening?

Either OP is making this up or they have a persecution complex.

Yeah me either, and I hang out on Tumblr for fandom stuff almost exclusively.

Maybe OP is taking criticisms meant for the writing industry as a whole personally? People do make posts saying they wish there were more fics and books about nonwhite characters, but I've literally never seen someone get shit just for writing a white character.
