Re: Reboots suck
(Anonymous) 2014-11-27 09:23 am (UTC)(link)Not really.
The movies earned more and are more critically acclaimed than most of the old ones:

They seem quite successful to me and have a big fandom.
Just because a vocal minority doesn't like it, it doesn't mean it sucks or the general audience didn't like it or critics considered it shit. Numbers say they don't.
JJ was given the purpose to breathe a new life over a franchise that was dead for Paramount. No one wanted to make a remake. They did, it was successful and it DID make people who never watched TOS before decide to watch the series and give trek a chance.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-27 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)These movies are hardly a flop or failure so I agree with the first anon.
Re: Reboots suck
(Anonymous) 2014-11-28 01:14 am (UTC)(link)Look at Transformers or Twilight -- huge box office, terrible films. Or hell, any number of the absolutely stupendous films that made next to nothing at the box office.
I can decide well enough for myself what constitutes a good reboot and, in my opinion, Star Trek DEFINITELY isn't it.
More power to you if you like it, but I don't give a crap about the box office or what other people (like critics) say about it. All that matters to me is my opinion at the end of the day.
