Maybe the type of things that appeal to you doesn't appeal to them?
This happens a lot to me, I like things that the majority of people around me don't. This even applies for Doctor Who. I like the show as a whole (NuWho-wise), but I enjoy Moffat's era of the Doctors (Capaldi and Smith) more than RTD's, while plot-wise, I think they're both fine but I usually prefer Moffat's too. I agree that Moffat's women aren't better than RTD's, though.

I think there is a lot of contrast between RTD's and Moffat's era, so if you did give Moffat's era a go and didn't like it, then I see no point in you having to continue to watch a show for the sake of your family, tbh. I mean, I love my family, but why would I need to forcefully watch shows I don't even like for their sake, that's my time wasted.
