Re: Netflix might be replacing movie theaters.

The problem is that going to the movie theaters stopped being the fun occasion it used to be. You have to buy insanely expensive snacks (or smuggle them in, but that's not the same thing), sit in a freezing cold theater, all to watch a film that, despite your most earnest hopes, ended up being trite and cliche. Or you don't go to the movies at all because everything that's playing is either for kids or some gory action film. Or yet another comic book remake.

So on that end, I prefer Netflix. I even have movie nights with friends. But I still miss actual movie theaters.

SA: Actual movie theaters? Sorry, brain fart there. Ignore that last part. I meant to end with "I miss the way theaters used to be."

You don't have to buy or bring any snacks at all. Eating while watching a movie is entirely optional. My parents never bought me movie theater snacks when I was a kid and I hardly ever buy snacks there now, except sometimes at the budget theater (everything is cheap) or the artsy-fartsy theater (they have things like hot tea and gourmet caramel corn).

why do you feel like you have to buy snacks. that doesn't make any sense. you could just not eat while watching the movie. lots of people don't.
