To be honest, I think many het fans don't care about ppl shipping other things (in general, but immature people are in every fandom) and if slash fans weren't constantly acting on their own bitterness and baiting het fans in nonsensical shipper wars, the latter wouldn't become bitter and have some kind of reaction. Some het canon ships are still popular so the second part is valid for the slash fans too: they wouldn't care about converting people to their shipper creed if the canon couple had no fans.

I have a friend who multiships and never gets shit from the het shippers when she reblogs the slash ship too, the only times she ever gets hate messages and unfollowers is when she reblogs the het ship and the slash fans act like she's doing something super bad (she tags everything so ppl could blacklist the ships they hate)

I do not think this is true. Some of the nastiest shipping wars have been between two het ships --Avatar: the Last Airbender,Naruto,Harry Potter,Final Fantasy VII -- it just seems like you are looking to demonize slash fans. They are not better than het fans. But they are not worse either.

I do agree that some slash fans bait het shippers, but saying het shippers are innocent lambs who don't care what other shippers do or think is laughable.

The secret is too generic but I think everyone here is replying thinking about their fandom and their own experiences, even if they don't specify which fandom they are talking about( prob to avoid wankers) Some have a bad opinion about the slash fans because the ones in their fandom have a particularly bad reputation and the het fans are ones getting the short end of the stick but yeah, not all the fandoms are the same and neither are the fans in them.

DA

Same. I was reminded when an anon upthread mentioned Bleach that those were the most vicious and hateful shipping wars I've seen in almost two decades of fandom.

Not saying that slash fans are angels -- one of my most recent fandom-drama experiences were the wars between two slash ships, with not a single female in sight -- but that if people like AYRT have issues with them and their prevalence in fandom, then this one's a convenient and insubstantiated accusation to make to shut down discussion.
