It's basically porn that uses the war in Afghanistan as a backdrop, with a bit of the intrigue of Sherlock thrown in for dramatic effect.

Yeah, I actually found it unbelievably offensive in that way, particularly once you start realizing that the other characters are just cannon fodder for the OTP. Not denying it's gripping and well-written, but I came away from it with a very nasty taste in my mouth.

So pretty much like the much-reviled J2 fic set in Haiti post-earthquake, or that other one in which they were experimental subjects in a Nazi camp during WWII.
