I've known my 3 best friends since middle school. For the 10th anniversary of our friendship, I gathered up all the best photos I had of us. Some of these pictures were online, but many of them predated facebook. Some of them I had to scan, because they predated digital cameras. Then I got big photo albums, the kind with a paper edge to write captions in. And I filled almost every page, arranging them chronologically. I hand-wrote the captions for them all (technically I did 5 albums because I made one for me and one for my mom at her insistence). And I plotted this secretly for almost the entire year, and nobody knew!

Their reaction was really shocked and happy. But the best part was hearing that they'd taken them home and showed their families, and it made several parents cry (happily).

I did something similar for a friend of mine for her birthday. Oddly enough, we take pictures of just the two of us all the time so I had so many pictures to choose from. She loved it.

It's really the thought that counts.
