Oh Shinji. I still think the reason that some people hate him is because they don't want to admit that they'd be as whiny as him if they were placed in the same shitty situation; the dude's life fucking sucked. I just felt sorry for him and thought most of his reactions were pretty understandable (the masturbating over his friend's unconscious body thing though? okay, that's still pretty weird)
