Wait what? Everything I talked about in that comment comes from the same place that says women are of lesser value. Traditional roles say women are emotional and men are logical, so that's part of why men are seen as leaders and given more value than women. But women can also be logical and men can also be emotional (and of course women can be good leaders and have the same value). Deconstructing the system that's in place is about making it okay for both women and men to step outside of the boxes that are built around them.

NA To be fair, you are presenting the arguments from a male focused viewpoint.

Sure, but what the fuck does that have to do with being an MRA

The things I'm talking about are harmful to everyone. They're also things that are talked about in feminist theory, and from what I have seen MRAs would be opposed to what I'm saying and defend the idea of women being emotional and men being logical.

I don't think it's wrong to criticise gender from a "male-focused viewpoint" if the point is greater gender equality and free expression for everyone.

+1

Yeah, MRAs only have use for emotional men when it's a convenient point to argue. Any other time? They're just "blubbering omega male manginas" or some bullshit like that. Same goes for male rape victims, men in non-traditional careers, etc.

well...yeah, some arguments are just going to have a male focused viewpoint. there's nothing inherently wrong with that

(Anonymous) 2014-12-03 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
...we're talking about a male character. What viewpoint should we be using?

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand?
