I guess when you have a cast of characters as generally-kind-of-bleh as LoK's, you take what you can get? No? Whatever.
Glad I've been avoiding the fandom for this one. Way back when all the TERRIBLE romance drama was happening with the dudes, Korra and Asami seemed like a kind of endearingly subversive third option, but if it's turned into a juggernaut of self-righteousness then best leave it alone.

I ship it in a goofball there-is-no-way kind of way, and I'm not active in the fandom at all, other than liking fanart when it pops up on my tumblr dash.

That said, I have never heard this "Asami should tame Korra" thing and I am so glad I have missed out on that grossness. Not only is it racially/culturally nasty, it doesn't even make sense because Korra becoming a more balanced person has been a huge arc for literally the entire show? And there's nothing to even "tame"? I just... what the shit, fandom.

On a semi-related note. In my personal head canon, I never saw anyone in the world of Avatar as white. Thing is, I don't see anyone looking like anything else BUT Han Chinese. Different eye colors and skin colors? Yes. But still looking Han Chinese. Not one European, African, South East Asian, Native American, South Native American or anyone else's face BUT Han Chinese.
So, Korra would look Chinese but with blue eyes and tanned skin. Asami would be pale and green eyed but still Han Chinese.

Korra is the more "masculine" of the pair therefore it's so subversive to have her subservient to Asami. Annoys me how people act like Korra needs to be tamed and use her as a prop to show off ~~flawless lady~~ Asami.

Why is it whenever a pairing or hell even a fandom gets popular, there is pretty much without fail a "I hate ____ because of the fans!" mentality? Why hang around the fans who are being assholes about something?

(Maybe it helps that I'm good at separating a thing from the people who like the thing, since you know, the former really doesn't choose the latter...)

I can't stand the Korrasami fans. I've yet to see anyone crosstag into Korrasami with "Korrasami sucks", but all they do is crosstag into Makorra about how, "oh. em. gee. If you don't see Korrasami is 100% canon and endgame, you're a heteronormative homophobe and you need to realizse this and stop shipping Makorra, Oh my gawd" and it's getting to the point where I'm going to enjoy when they (obviously) don't become canon.

Jesus, I don't know how they took Bryke giving a paragraph response about not doing what tumblr wanted/How they were going to write what they wanted and not second guess based on tumblr as 'omg Korrasami is canon!"

korrasami fans are the fucking worse, i'm always incredulous when they say that makorra fans make the fandom toxic when they have been some of the most foul and rotten people in any fandom i've seen on tumblr outside of bleach and naruto fans. hate how they misuse sj issues in order to "debunk" opposing ships. fucking disgusting.

Ugh, I'm having terrible flashbacks to the race arguments I heard when I was in the Static Shock fandom. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

(I personally don't ship these two together, but I can see the appeal.)

Asami isn't really white. Otherwise I agree with this secret. Honestly I don't like any pairing on the show, all of them are written pretty shitty.
