I have never heard "man pain" used in this way before, but then I've only heard it used in real life, like when a man cuts his little finger and makes a huge fuss.

I dislike the term, as well as "man flu". My husband sometimes uses that one, but I would never do so myself unless he knew I was obviously joking.

If he called my pain "woman pain" I wouldn't like it much.

Are the concepts of basic politeness so threatening and alien that we really have to repackage them by calling it social justice/men's rights/political correctness?

AGREED

Gosh It appalls me that we've gotten to this point.

Anyone who uses the term IRL should shut up. That's not what it's for.

Otherwise, it's usually a term for meta crit.

yeah, god, everyone else should shut up so my argument on the internet about how nobody uses it in real life, becomes right. stop proving me wrong e_e

wtf is "man flu"?

(Anonymous) 2014-12-05 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
nayrt, but I'm betting it's when your guy gets the flu and he moans and groans and makes sure everyone knows how he is Soldiering Through Deathly Sickness, and behaves as if nobody has ever been so sick in the history of ever. And he needs chicken soup and tea with honey and someone to go out and buy mass quantities of kleenex and cold meds. Meanwhile you and the kid get the same bug but he fully expects you to take care of everybody and do everything as usual and also mop his fevered brown and enact an h/c fic with him on the spot.

Huh that's interesting

My sister used to actually make a big production of being sick (sometimes she got it worse than the rest of us, where as both my dad and my brother tend to pretend to not be sick at all unless its really bad.
