I wish more people separated couples at (non-family) holiday dinner parties, because then they'd be far less awkward to go to when you're single.

Also, everyone thinks because I'm a drama geek, I love charades. No, being a drama geek makes charades sad because of the wasted potential. I do like less stringent versions where guests can do whatever they want though.

Oh man, I tried that once-- separating couples for a dinner party I was having, because one of my best friends was single and she was really antsy about being the only one. My god, you'd have thought I'd initiated World War IX. Everyone was pissed off at me for that one, rearranged anyway, and then the rest of the night was so goddamn awkward I couldn't stand it. My friend was grateful for the attempt, but admitted that if she'd known it was going to blow up so hard she never would have even mentioned it.

Which isn't to say that she was wrong in her feeling, and I don't quite understand why they couldn't be separated for one meal (my wife and I do it all the time when we go out with friends!) but man. Never again. I just let people sit wherever the hell they want now.

AYRT - Yikes! That's insane. I guess if a couple's already "that couple" they're not going to be quiet if you try forcing them not to be. :/
