How has he been in everything? ppl say this all the time. I can think of Star Trek and 12 Years a Slave. And he voiced Smaug. What other big movies has he been in? Most of the other crap is TV shows or movies no one saw.

It's not the number of big movies/shows. It's how quickly he's exploded onto everything. Star Trek, 12 Years a Slave, and TH:DoS were all from just last year. And they were all super huge from both a fandom and mainstream perspective.

Also, he starred in that one Julian Assange bio film that got a decent amount of press and the third season of Sherlock came out in January which caused another flurry of attention, especially after he won an Emmy for it.

I can only assume you are sick of Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston as well. because they have been in WAY more movies. Especially Hemsworth. Star Wars, Red Dawn, Rush, that shitty Snow White movie, magazine covers, etc.

Oh shit, Chris Pratt is going to be in the new Jurassic Park movie! Eeeep. He was in the Lego Movie as well. And Zero Dark Thirty.

It must be pretty terrible that you can't like actors who get in a lot of stuff. Considering that happens all the time as studios capitalize on an actor's popularity.

Shit looks mad different from the perspective of someone in fandom than someone outside of it, and way more of Cumberbatch's shit was big in fandom than Hemsworth. No one gives a shit about Red Dawn or a shitty Snow White movie that no one saw. So I don't think it's absurd in fandom to talk about Cumberbatch being in a ton of stuff, as compared to those other people.
