DA

Please, pray tell me where these "tons of queer characters" are?

Have some of them here:

how many of those characters are still on the air and are actual prominent characters in their show?

and if they're not on supernatural, they're irrelevant to the op's point on people shipping destiel, unless your argument is "you shouldn't ship two straight characters in show x, because there's a gay couple in show y".

The Good Wife, The Walking Dead, Downton Abbey, Hannibal, Game of Thrones, Modern Family, American Horror Story or Revenge are popular shows with prominent gay/bi characters.

hannibal? are you talking about mason verger's sister? she appeared in three episodes.

and again, if they're not in supernatural they're irrelevant to the op's point.

wow thanks for these crumbs! I and other LGBT people will feast on these scraps for sure.

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW, cry more. There are several shows, games, books and comics with LGBT characters. Stop pretending that there's no queer representation in media just because your slash OTP isn't canon.

Wow, someone has a bunch of razorwire up their butt. The number of LGBT characters in shows, movies, books, comics and especially games is severely lacking (yes, in numbers and also in the way those rare characters are written) and just because you have this weird hate boner for a slash ship doesn't mean that there are "tons of" queer characters and everyone is just too stupid to see them.

"Several" out of the hundreds of current media properties, and you're telling LGBT people to cry more?

Seriously?

(Anonymous) 2014-12-07 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
da

considering an estimated 10% of the population is gay, I think the representation is appropriate, certainly better than racial representation!

Or are you not going to be happy unless it's 90% representation that alienates the majority of the viewing public?

(Anonymous) 2014-12-08 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
where did you get the idea that having more gay characters would alienate "the majority of the viewing public"?

(Anonymous) 2014-12-05 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
And how do any of those factor in your argument about people throwing tantrums over Dean and Castiel? Unless we're talking AUs across different media then there aren't "tons of queer characters" in Supernatural.

Off the top of my head I can think of about three, two of whom were in a relationship with each other and in one episode, and the other's a lesbian and therefore wouldn't affect Dean or Castiel anyway.

So again, where are these "tons of queer characters" that could actually influence the thing you're bitching about?
