I like this idea. It criticizes cliche writing without making it about someone's gender.

Nah, because it wouldn't stop the term being misapplied to any characters who showed sadness or experienced trauma and who didn't bounce back right away.

It would put the focus on the cliche aspect of the writing which is the key problem.
