Reviewers who feel this way tend to overrate how much their precious beta skills are needed, IMO.

But then why are there so many--SO many--fanfic writers who complain about the high hit/review ratio their pieces get? I feel like a ton of fanfic writers want reviews.

But you're talking about two different things: constructive reviews and reviews. There's a overlap, but not all the writers who complain about lack of reviews specifically mean concrit. Secondly, the writers who complain about lack of reviews aren't necessarily going to be the same people with very old, possibly abandoned fics, which is what the secret is about. Thirdly, even though there are writers who want reviews and concrit, it doesn't necessarily follow that they're going to want reviews from the sort of person who thinks their concrit is sooooo important that they make a point of announcing that they "write whatever damn review that I want".
