I once read a story where Snape was a "bogan" -I believe that's what they call it? I'm not Australian but that fic was a wonderful thing.

I went back a few months later and the writer had deleted all their HP fics. Everything. That was the first time a writer had pulled down fics I loved. Not the last, I'm sad to say, but it still makes me feel a little wistful. I get a physical sensation like my stomach dropping into nothingness.

If a writer would get in RL trouble for the fic they've written, then delete away. Otherwise, if it's just because the writer is now embarrassed, and people are still getting enjoyment from the old fics, it seems such a pity.
