it helps to widen your reach when people post post your art. Maybe someone likes your fanart enough to image search it and comission an art.

Oh here we go, the "but people basically stealing your work and posting it without credit is doing you a favor, you should be flattered!" bullshit again.

The artist gets to decide where their own work is posted. Period. Disrespecting that isn't 'widening the reach' or helpful. At all.

so you don't like reblogs? The only difference of between credit and no credit is a few minutes for people to image search. In order to comission the artist as you say.

half the time I don't know what a fanartist wants. Should I spend my time to find it out? The answer is obviousely no. Don't put it on the web if you want to control it.

I'm sorry, did I hire you as my manager...?

and now you're assuming 1) reverse image searches work consistently and 2) the type of people with artist hiring power even know what a reverse image search is. the last place I worked they hadn't even seen a drawing tablet before and could barely browse the internet, they are not going to take any extra steps in locating an artist when they can simply find someone else. again, a loss due to stolen art.

You're right. Expecting people to tineye a picture they like is way more reasonable than expecting people to put the credit for the picture on their posts. Heaven forbid we add five seconds of work to some Tumblrite's posting time.

there's literaly no reason not to provide a link on Tumblr. It's very easy. It's mostly reblogs anyway because many artists have their work there.
