I'm not bipolar, but if I go off my meds (which is an unfortunate recent habit) for too long, I get what I swear is mania. How can I know? Is that possible?

Obligatory "talk to a mental health professional" disclaimer here

I feel like it's possible to have manic episodes without necessarily being bipolar, yeah. It doesn't necessarily mean that you have bipolar. Or at the very least, to have something that is so close to mania as to be indistinguishable - at a certain point, asking whether you REALLY have something becomes kinda useless.

Maybe that kind of reaction is a withdrawal effect of your meds?

I know that if I quit my migraine meds too suddenly I'll get strange depersonalization episodes and sleep issues, despite the fact these meds should have no psychological effect whatsoever.

Withdrawals, even just for a short term, can do weird things anon. If you can't chat to your prescribing doctor about it then maybe a pharmacist?

It sounds possible, sure. Do you want to say what meds?
