I read a femslash story that wasn't quite a soulmate AU, but the two women had their minds altered so that they felt a powerful, undying attraction to one another.

Of course, that was the source of conflict in the story (talking about what it meant, whether it would actually be right for them to get together, etc etc), so...it was a little different. But they did wind up getting together and when one of them died, the other COULD NOT GO ON, so it's close enough.
