The AV Club boards always had great gimmick/joke posters. My fave was Rappin' Jake Sisko. He wrote raps about events in DS9 episodes and posted them on the TV Club reviews of the show. It was amazing.

There was a guy who started writing Batman slash fanfic in the Gotham threads. Pretty good quality ones too, though I didn't hang around enough to follow him.
