the stakes are a lot higher when you have bad policeman than when you have bad teachers, considering that policemen can and have gotten away with literally murdering people. this tends to make people less generous towards them

they're a lot more likely to be arrested for it than an officer who rapes someone. I'm not defending bad teachers. I just understand why bad officers are more likely to make someone suspicious of policemen in general
