There is a big difference between being alone and being lonely. Your traditions seems nice, and as long as you enjoy them that is all that matters!

Only reason I go home for Holidays (and I am down to only Christmas* now, Easter a friend usually comes to me and we play WoW and go to the city and show and eat a lot of candy) is because my family would worry that I felt lonely and that would make their celebrations less happy and as I have nothing against celebrating Christmas per se, I have no issues going home to celebrate it, but the day I start working I will volunteer to stay at Christmas so those who love Christmas can celebrate it.

And with my plan to go into TV I have a perfect excuse to work during Christmas, "sorry can't come home, if I leave no one will broadcast "Sølvguttene sing in Christmas and then when will everyone know when to open their presents?"

*Christmas really is the only Holiday that is especially family oriented in Norway, Easter is for going to the cabin and crime shows/books, Independence Day is mostly a day for Children, New Years isn't for celebrating alone (but my family have quite loose traditions, so I do what I want. Stay home or go to a friend, or my grandparents depending on my plans) and that's about it.
