I feel you, OP. I kind of backed off on my current fandom after things went south between me and the resident BNF because I didn't want to deal with people taking sides and all of that other bullshit. I've stepped my toes back in now that it's been over a year and there's new people in the fandom who won't associate me with that person, and it's been nice. I don't care that there's a couple of people who think I'm shitty or whatever, as long as it's not a whole group of people who do.

I get this feeling. I had a crowd trying to hang me as an "elitist bnf" for a while and I just backed off, never engaged with it. I think it's blown over now, but for the most part, no one cares what happens and I'm happy with that. I don't feel any need to disprove what was said about me, just reopens old wounds.
