5. Baten Kaitos the game series I feel most compelled to evangelize. Someday I'll actually solidify my theory that it's related to the Chrono/Xeno universes.

I very much hope it's released on the Wii's Virtual Console because it deserves so much more attention than it gets. ALSO: ANOTHER GAME WOULD BE NICE

Have you beaten Baten Kaitos? I've gone like 10 hours in but the battle system makes me want to punch myself in the face. I was wondering if the story's worth it.

Yes, both the first and the second. I would say roll with it: I love the story. It has a number of cliche moments, but also a hearty dose of WTF that I consider well worth it. I'm also in love with the art direction.

You pretty much have to play BK to under the utter crazy/awesomeness which is the story of BKII. The battle system is much friendlier in II as well (though eventually the first's becomes second nature, provided you keep up with your cards). I should also mention that BKII actually has GOOD voice acting that doesn't sound like it was recorded through a paper towel tube.

It it, IMO. There's some crazy plot twists and crap later on.
Of course, I liked the battle system. If you hate it that much, you might not want to put up with it for the time it takes for the plot to take off.
