When is one's sexuality not a daily part of life?

Cosplaying should be no exception.
( Please don't claim that no one appreciates other cosplayers at conventions, that connecting with others based on things like sexuality [fanboys looking for congirls] may be why some attend conventions or that relationships and affection do not bud at them. )

We exhibit the sexuality we are; or by theory should.
If someone is feeling like others are not honest or blurring lines in displaying theirs, then a feeling of being alienated and left in a minority is feasible.

Maybe some (the OP) feel as though all the crazy make-out girl on girl LARP sessions, just for fun or to cause fangirl squeeing from the fanservice in others, can make her think that no one is a fellow lesbian and someone that can connect with her & share that attribute.

Anime, cosplaying and specific fandoms are all smaller and smaller ponds a person secludes themselves to. Being restricted to yet another smaller pool of people that behave like her ( lesbian ) is all the more stiffling; certainly if experience has taught her to distrust who is pretending & playing or serious.

It could appear to be a slap in the face to people who have fought discrimination, abuse and violence against them in struggling to deal with achieving or expressing their sexuality.

Having girls giggle, laugh and joke about groping whomever is the character they like as though it's nothing more than a game of tag, only to claim another sexual orientation, might be like a mockery of being a lesbian.
It'd be no less hypocritical for two guys to foddle each other then claim "Dude we're straight as arrows, it's just part of the game!" after they climb out of their football, band, etc garb.

My history with friends and acquaintances who do this support the possible idea that all this lesbian-like behavior is no more an honest questioning of sexuality than drunken groping sessions are for 'bi girls' at bars.

When you hear about the boyfriends, husbands or asexual stance of theirs after they've just had a 'photoshoot' while lip-locking with another woman; it seems to cheapen the whole idea of the purpose of a kiss.
