Yeah, like everyone else has already pointed out, MCU!Clint doesn't have a "character" so to speak. Except maybe being a little snarky? He snarked at Coulson in Thor? That's about it, honestly. His "personality" is srsface, occasional snark and arrows. I'm hoping AOU will give him more to do, but at this point if I don't throw in some of his comics canon doofiness then I can't write him.

What, comics version of him is doofy? I think I'd actually like that if that made its way into the movies.

Not totally doofy. A little hotheaded sometimes.

He's circus people. He fell for Natasha when she was a foreign spy working in and against his country. He used Hank Pym's tech to be a giant for a little while. He married Bobbi--another secret agent--after knowing her less than a month, and then kind of broke up with her because she killed someone, I think.

More recently, he's been pretty good with the younger generation of Avengers. He lobbied to get Vance and Angel (Justice and Firestar) into the Avengers, and has been kind of a mentor to the other Hawkeye (Kate).

He clearly is not comics!Clint though.

I'm pretty sure the tiny little bit Whedon bothered to include was based on Ultimates, not the 616-Fraction version everyone's so keen on so... yeah, based on the comics. Just not the ones you think.

Well, basing something on The Ultimates gives a lot less source material to work with, and probably more inconsistent source material at that.
