Or maybe the problem comes from the fact that the secret is addressed to "every cis person", not "every cis person who doesn't do enough research"

I'm cis myself, but can we cool it with the persecution complex here? It's perfectly valid for someone who is trans to feel that most cis people write being trans badly. It's probably true.

It's not even about that. I'm basically fine with the OP's opinion - I mean, I disagree with it entirely, but I don't think it's any kind of persecution. That's just silly. But then you have a whole bunch of people coming in and insisting on totally misinterpreting the secret so that they can defend the viewpoint in ways they otherwise couldn't, and that just bothers me.

In other words, it's not because I'm cis. It's because I'm a pedant.

Yes! This, exactly!

Although it could just be one person, or a few people, reinterpreting the secret in a lot of different places.

...And it's possible that the reinterpretation is what the OP meant -- it's just not what they said.

DA--and since it would be guessing, and putting words in OP's mouth, to talk about what they *meant*--I'm going with the theory they said what they meant in the first place. Which, ouch, but as a cis writer who might consider writing a trans character, I probably needed to see this.

NOT EVERY CIS PERSON

It sounds just as ignorant when any group generalizes another. Tumblr is full of assholes generalizing an entire group of people and now it's happening here, too.
