I 100% agree with this, at least in the context of the pictured version of the character. (Though I would have used that shot of him reading "Traps Monthly" for the articles.)

Just to clarify, I did mean this version of the character specifically.

And yeah, I should have done that! That would have been funny, but google was not being kind to me.

Most of the picture gags you see online from mystery incorporated actually happened in the show. Every one I've posted in this thread did, below included.

"Bull fucking shit Noodles!" You say.

:D

I cannot stress how good this show is.

I think I've been watching too much anime because when I saw "Traps Monthly" I was thinking of another type of trap and got very confused.

You are not the only one.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-12 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
How so?

Not OP, but this version of him is very single-minded in his obsession with traps and trap-making, and tends not to realize he's boring other people by talking about them. He also doesn't read body language very well, and he's generally bad at predicting how other people will react in social situations. He's well-meaning and tries to make others happy, but he can be frustrating to deal with. I could easily read him as having Asperger's.

OP,

(Anonymous) 2014-12-12 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
Like feotakahari said, his obsession with traps, for one thing.

Then there are a couple of moments in the show that could be seen as him stimming? Like, after Daphne gets kidnpped by the Man-Crab, those repetitive motions he makes remind me of stimming.

There's also how he acts around other people. He's bad a social situations, yes, but in a way that reminds me of someone who learned how social stuff works, but is just really bad at it.

There's other stuff too, but it's hard to explain, for me, he just reminds me of some of my friends who are autistic in many ways.

LOTS O IMAGES HERE

[personal profile] insanenoodlyguy 2014-12-12 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, just little hints.

Mmhmm

Also Mystety Inc Is the single best version of Scooby Doo ever made. The right mix of actuall compelling writing, a sequential storyline, and just the right amount of self deprecating humor.

Agreed so hard, for all of the reasons you mentioned as well as the existence of Hot Dog Water (and her shipability with Velma) and the voice of Lewis Black. And I may or may not have a crush on Cassidy Williams.

Shippability nothing. They were just a hair's breadth from being undeniably official. I remain utterly convinced that the subtext was fully intentional on the creators' part, and that they were out and out dating in the 'happy ending.'

I really wish it were easier to find good fanfic/fanart of them.

Oh, I hear you. Generally, I'm not one to go "Pfft, they're so canon, who're they even trying to fool," about my favorite ships, but in the case of Velma/Marcie, well, let's just say I'm having a hard time resisting the urge to break that protocol. 'Cause I mean, come on.

And yes, the lack of good fanfic/art of them really sucks.

Welll

(Anonymous) 2014-12-12 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
There's also the fact that he didn't understand he was neglecting Daphne until she sang a freaking song about traps

What spectrum? You mean Asperger's or autism??
And what is this from? So confused by this secret.

OP

(Anonymous) 2014-12-12 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Autism spectrum.

Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated.

You need to watch it. Everybody who ever loved scooby doo needs to watch it. It will remind you why you loved it.

This is not a meme. This is an actual line.

To be fair, the first half of the first season is a little slow, what with the romance issues, BUT if you can get to the episode with Professor H.P. Hatecraft and his novel The Shrieking Madness of Char Gar Gothakon: The Beast That Hath No Name, it's pretty good after that.

You do have to watch the episodes until that point, though; they come up later.

I actually got that far, then ditched during the episode with the goblin motorcycle gang. (There is something seriously wrong with your timeslot and rating when a biker brawl ends with the victors ordering extra-frothy cappuchinos.) Then I read the spoilers for season 2, and holy crap, that sounds totally awesome and I wish I'd watched it unspoiled.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-12 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
It's so damn good.

Have you seen it, even though you were spoiled? Or have you not watched it yet, because it's visually stunning (IMO) on top of how good it is, and I think it would be worth giving a watch.

Asperger's is on the autism spectrum.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-12 08:00 am (UTC)(link)
I love that idea because he is the all American hero and the handsome guy, and it shows it's not the outcasts it's anyone.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-12 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not anyone. It's the weirdo with the trap obsession.
