I'd like to clarify here that I actually have no issue with fans who love absorbing all the material and memorizing tiny details, or ones that get annoyed at inaccurate information. I'm that way with a lot of other fandoms.

I get annoyed at the attitude of disdain for 'casuals' and the NEED to smugly correct everyone or go on long tangents even when you've been told to stop or even when it's making other people clearly uncomfortable.

Yeah, OP, I totally understand. There's a certain kind of possessive, pedantic, "I'm a better fan" attitude that's about judging how other people have fun, and it's both really irritating and just a little bit pathetic.
