I think both are true. The decrease in posts seems like it's way more than you would expect from just taking troll posts off the top.

No. No it is not. The atmosphere has gotten so toxic here in the past year that I notice people have been leaving. And of course we also get shit like Jaybie's hater anon which was above and beyond the call of doodie.

That's only true to an extent. It's not worth the shit either way though. We can still have wank, but less horribly destructive wank.

I don't think that's really true? Subtract the obviously trolly posts (which end up causing shitstorms that account for a bunch of comments, fair enough - not only in reply to the wank but also people complaining to Case to keep an eye on or shut down threads) and I don't see much difference? And how could you tell the secret count change in just a few days anyway, it takes a week's wait or so to post them, right?

And honestly, you can still start wank if you want. If you're threatening to kill people or others, being obscene in your trolly racism/sexism/etc, or stalking users, then yeah, too bad, guess you can't post. But it's not like we suddenly can't talk about politics or hot topic issues, or porn, etc. People are really full of themselves if they think Case cares that much.

I don't have any rigorous statistics but it feels like there's a hit of like... 250, 300 posts at least when logging is on, and I just don't think that there's 300 posts of wank most days that logging is off.

What's the difference between IP logging being on and off? Nobody sees it but case.

People are just paranoid, because it's supposed to be a "secrets" website. So, they think that they'll be identified somehow. It's irrational paranoia.

There are things people say that they don't want Case to link back to them personally. It is the same reason why people go to a priest in a another parish when they have to confess something really bad, even though every priest is sworn to secrecy, it is still something you do not wish them knowing. Same principle at work.

There is also a concern, actually stated by Case himself, that the stored IP information could be a security problem (that is why Case will not authorize anyone else taking over the comm, or becoming a mod). You can spin that as many ways as you like, but once the Mod says it is a security issue then there is no reason to take anyone who claims otherwise seriously. Especially when all they have for counter-arguments is reductio ad absurdum and mockery.
