(Anonymous) 2014-12-13 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)If someone scammed my grandma out of money by convincing her she could communicate with my dead grandpa, I would be mad as hell.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-13 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)Call me crazy, but I don't think anyone should be allowed to scam grieving people by claiming that their dead child can still talk to them from beyond the grave. It's cruel beyond belief, and the only way this works is for the charlatans in question to find out information in really underhanded ways, i.e. having shills eavesdrop on audiences to find out who they want to talk to, etc.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-13 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)"Psychics, mediums and homeopathy..." One of these is not like the other. Unless you meant telepathy?
(Homeopathy being alternative methods of healing and is a wide umbrella that includes everything from herbs and oils, to crystals and sound therapy.)

(Anonymous) 2014-12-14 03:54 am (UTC)(link)In many ways, I'd say homeopathy more harmful than believing in psychics because if you're ill and seek homeopathic treatment, you're not getting medical treatment that actually works. You're just wasting time and money on what is essentially snake oil.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-16 03:21 am (UTC)(link)If you have a disease with no cure (according to science) and are chronic or terminal, you might be willing to try anything. And if on the chance something actually works, maybe it can become science.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-14 11:06 am (UTC)(link)Look, I've had loved ones who passed away. If there was a chance I could tell my grandma how much I love her and miss her, that would be wonderful. But I don't want to talk to some weasel charlatan pretending to be my grandmother, that's not comforting. If people want smoke blown up their asses, then... well, that's their business. But I think it's cruel to deceive people into believing you can give them their loved ones back when you can't. That's taking advantage of people when they're at a vulnerable, emotionally painful time in their lives.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-16 03:28 am (UTC)(link)She had no legal recourse, in the end, because she had willingly given him the money. So, she's still poor... was poor to begin with, actually, even with that little bit in the will.
People who prey on the grieving are less than the slime leaking from a dog's infected anus after the dog has been eating Taco Bell. However, getting rid of psychics/paranormal types isn't going to get rid of it. It does happen in other areas.
