JAKE BERENSON

You know, it's funny. It's been so many years that I probably wouldn't have recognized his full name if it had been mentioned throughout the series. But that one line where it first appeared packed such a punch that it's been burned into my memory. That's pretty decent writing for a mass-produced children's series.

I still hated that ending, though...

Protip: No one liked the ending. No one. I didn't hate it, but I still didn't like it.

THAT KID FROM THE NARNIA MOVIE STILL LOOKS LIKE HIM, THOUGH. It was so distracting to get jolted out of the movie every so often in the moments where I was just like YOU'RE JAKE!! Shawn Ashmore, my ass.

Ahaha. I am not the slightest bit surprised.

I didn't hate it, but I still didn't like it.

It might not have pissed me off quite so much if it hadn't taken fifty bloody books to get there. It was like: "You're telling me all of that was for this?"

There's a fanfic out there that comes to me recommended on high authority (aka from another Animorphs-crazed friend of mine); it apparently picks up immediately where the ridiculously stupid ending left off and tells it like it "actually happened." I still haven't gotten around to reading it, though, as I've been rereading the actual series off and on for the better part of this year, and have only just now worked my way up to the end. (I have two books left, eee!!)

I think the title is "The Kellbrid Wars" or similar, on the Pit.
