Well sorry, but the books are more or less morality plays. And it's just one more thing with slashers. "Ooh, look, something nice and pure, intented for children. No, I think I'll make sure that people in the stories are screwing! Yes, sexing for everyone! Hooray!"
...

Not in the fandom, but I've a vague impression from somewhere that Peter/Susan might actually be het.

I've heard slash used to mean same-sex pairings, but I've heard it used to mean random, non-canon het pairings as well. The former's more common, but I've heard Zatara fans referred to as slashers as well, since slash derived from the slash in Character/Character. So in this usage, at least, slashers=ship-happy pairing people up because they can.
